A recent study by Flurry Analytics shows that a person spends around 162 minutes each day in an average on their mobile devices, of which 86% (approx. 139 minutes) of time is spent on the apps. This shows that the future of any business is heavily inclined towards mobile apps and gives reasons for a business owner on why his business should go mobile sooner than later.
You are doing it all wrong if you think that mobile apps are only for big brands, many small businesses are taking the mobile curve understanding that an effective mobile strategy involves more than just a mobile optimized website.
Businesses these days are giving personalized offers such as freebies for referrals & engagement, cashbacks on purchases etc. only on mobile app for its users. It is important for businesses to keep delighting its users on a consistent basis to keep the users hooked on to the app.

But, as far as UI goes, though, I think (according to answers I get from IOS developers) that IOS development has plenty to offer and is easier to use.
IOS, of course, doesn’t have all UI related things that Android has, though.
